U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on September 21, 2012, that it will extend Haiti's temporary protected status (TPS). Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will release a set of guidelines within the next week Individuals who qualify must have lived continuously in the United States since January 12, 2011.
